Develop a Deeper Knowledge of Tarot
Whether you have been intuitively working with tarot for years or are a newbie, these monthly classes will offer some valuable tools that will make your exploration with tarot even richer.
Long before a twelve-fold division of the sky was introduced by the Babylonians, in Egypt they would closely follow what stars were rising every ten days over the course of the year. The Babylonians later linked these stars with the zodiac and then the Greeks integrated these ten-degree segments into their system as decans, from the Greek word for the number ten. One of the early uses for these decans was in constructing amulets to protect from illness, a medical and magical treatment that continued into the Renaissance and early 20th century where the decans were eventually re-imagined as the minor arcana images of the Tarot.
Decans are a nifty way of breaking down the qualities of each individual sign by separating each one into thirds of ten degrees each. Every sign will have three decans and each decan has a planetary ruler which becomes the co-ruler of that particular sign. By knowing which decan, a tarot card is in, this can help you learn more information about its story and the meaning of the cards. In this class we will be using the Rider-Waite Correspondences to dive deep into this study.
All levels welcome. Bring a Rider Waite Deck to class, if you don’t have one, I’ll have extra but please let us know so I bring enough to class.
This series is taught by Healer Counselor and Metaphysician, Lynell Masterson.
